Hello loves!! We want to keep up with this the best we can. Sorry if it’s not as often as we all would like, but we’ll try!! We’re job searching all over the area, but nothing yet. I think we’ll be doing some restaurant hunting tomorrow. I’ve applied to so many different jobs I lost count.

It’s hot! It’s 106 degrees out and baby I can feel it. What a wonderful invention the air conditioner is. We are 50 miles away from the California border and 279 miles from Los Angeles!! I’m so excited to get to LA!

Every so often we see signs warning us of blowing dust. It’s awesome. At any point you can look around 360 degrees and see at least two sand tornadoes, very cool.

Spending time in Sedona yesterday and he last two nights was awesome. We drove in from Flagstaff on 89A through the Cococino National Forest. It was beautiful. I bought my dad a book last Christmas that had 125 of the most scenic drives in the county. That road into Sedona was one of the drives and I’ll tell you that if it wasn’t I would have put it in myself. I just kept wishing I was on my motorcycle.

After 25 miles of curvy roads in the pines we came out to canyons and rocks. It was such a change in scenery, I couldn’t get enough of it. I was either saying ooo or ahhh, not much else.

When we got into Sedona we checked in at the hotel. We had a first floor room again and were able to unpack the car with ease. Annette you were right after the third day we were pros. Mike always took care of the repacking but it was simple and didn’t take much time at all.

With 258 miles to go I’m going to enjoy the cacti! Talk to you all soon!

Good morning! We’re now on pacific standard time so it’s 9:32 am here, and we’re getting ready to take a walk and find breakfast. The room we have is beautiful with an amazing view of the red rocks off of our patio. My camera is charging so I hope to get lots of photos on the internet tonight.

Sleeping in was great, and knowing that we don’t have to drive 500+ miles is even better!

I have been to Sedona before with my family but not recently. I have always been telling Amanda how amazing and gorgeous this place is, and driving in last night I was even stunned – this may be my favorite place in the world to visit and I can only hope to come back with more time in the future.

Well, Amanda is on the phone with Michelle (hi Michelle!) and were getting ready to hunt for banana pancakes, so I’m signing off for now.

We’re on the road again, and amanda is still ehind the wheel! Albequerque is only 130 miles away and the landscape is still flst and desert like.

Finally I get to relax in the passanger’s seat! The road we are on is I-40 and goes straight from Amarillo through New Mexico into Arizona, and we’re on it for 606 miles out of today’s expected 636!

Here we are at a decent hotel in Amarillo, Texas, after what turned out to be a very long day of driving. We got up and packed the car very quickly and set off to find a quick breakfast, gas and an oil change, then get on the road. The hunt for breakfast was somewhat tricky and took a lot of time since many things were closed, or did not have lots of cars in the parking lot (we both know that’s a good way to judge a place). After finally driving around and grabbing breakfast sandwiches, we went to the local pit stop to change my oil. They said it would be 20 minutes til they pull the car in, so we said ok, went to go fill the tank and went back. After about 40 minutes we drove away…with the same oil.

Finally ready to get on the road, we start driving and see an empty Castrol oil change facility which gets us in and out in 15 minutes. By this time it’s 11:30 and almost time for lunch!

We drive and drive, when Amanda sees a final sign or the Precious Moments Cathedral. As some of you may know these dolls are a big part of her childhood, so we drive a little out of the way to see this attraction, which is the largest thing in any of the nearby towns. It’s a very cool and adorable chapel, with paintings and stained glass versions of the Precious Moments dolls in the creation story. Photos will hopefully follow tomorrow.

The rest of the day isn’t as exciting since by this time it was already 2:30 and we still had 400 or so miles to go! So…on we drive.

We drove straight through Oklahoma, which was where the scenery really started to change. Mountains were disappearing, trees were getting shorter, and everything was feeling flatter and dryer. However, we finally learned the true meaning of rolling hills… They went on for hundreds of miles! After driving straight through the long state we finally made it in to Texas! This may have been my favorite part of our drive this far. It is exceptionally flat and we could see the horizon in every direction, as the landscape slowly begins to become more desert-esque. Trees are a dime a dozen, grass is looking different, and the farms are becoming large ranches with very few buildings on them. The road is straighter than i have ever seen before – dozens of miles are covered before the steering wheel even needs to be touched (don’t worry mom, I kept my hands there!)

The sun started to set as we approached the home stretch, and we could see it fully set over the horizon as we drove into the sunset. After ten minutes driving at night we pulled in to Amarillo and found a nice hotel with a nice bargain. Again we unloaded the car and went out looking for dinner. 2 options – kill something with our bare hands or fast food. I’ll let you figure out what we ate.

Now were in bed and Amanda is passed out while I have trouble falling asleep (as always) so I decided to write this excessivly long post. For those of you still with me…. I thank you!

We have tons of photos from today that we will hopefully share with you tomorrow night or the next day, when we get some time to relax in Sedona.

Forgive me for my writing being sloppy…i drove another 550 miles today, putting our grand total around 1750….over half way there!!! My brain is fried from watching so much road! Amazingly my back is still hanging in there, although tonight I started with some serious lower back pain. I’ll be alright, nothing to fear.

Hello!!!! We’re in Springfield, MO. We got a great deal on a room and were able to park our car right in front of it. We unloaded everything from the car into the room and I feel great about it. (Thank you Annette – you’ll see a picture dedicated to your advice)
